To every bag-a-holic, possessing an ARANÁZ in your collection meant one has exquisite taste for artistry and crafts. This fashion label even caught the discerning eye of some members of the European royal families, who are now patrons of the haute Filipino handbag brand.
It was back in the early 2000s when I first encountered ARANÁZ in fashion magazines and on tv. As a “bag enthusiast,” I instantly admired the intricacy of its design – breathing new appreciation for the humble Pinoy handwoven bags. Adorned with turquoise beads, bright red corals and semi-precious stones, I never saw native bags the same way again.
Fast forward to today, a lot of brands and styles – authentic and counterfeit alike – are available and shoved to our faces (pun intended). But, there was still something about an ARANÁZ that made me stop every time I go to the Chimes flagship store here in Davao. Those gorgeous pieces displayed on glass shelves I admired up close, but was held back by its price tag. 😦 It wasn’t a practical purchase for me that time.
My interest piqued when Chimes sent me an invitation to the ARANÁZ for Plains & Prints preview event.
The capsule collection with the luxury label and one of the country’s retail fashion brands is feminine, stylish and elegant – with a mix of modern and traditional attributes and that “practical” price tag. (Finally!)
Below is the lookbook featuring 8 stylish handbags and 7 fashion pieces modeled by Anne Curtis.
And here’s my 1st ARANÁZ (and definitely not the last)!
